Mark A. Roberts, EdD, is the principal at Hall High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. He has more than 30 years of experience as a principal at middle and high schools with large enrollment. His career has focused on school turnaround at seven diverse, underperforming urban schools in four different states.

Through Dr. Roberts’s expertise in creating building-level systems, focusing on high-level relationships, curriculum and classroom instruction, data analysis, professional learning communities, and the High Reliability Schools™ (HRS) framework, each of his seven schools has successfully increased student achievement—with one school reclassified as “high-performing.”

At the state level, Dr. Roberts has assisted school districts in moving from “underperforming” to “performing” status.

Dr. Roberts began his teaching career in Williamsburg, Virginia, after earning his bachelor’s degree in vocational education from North Carolina State University. He also earned a master’s degree and an educational specialist degree from George Washington University, and his doctorate in educational leadership from Virginia Tech.
