Improving Teacher Development: A Guide for Teachers and Coaches Workshop

Educators cannot become great unless they are given the time, support, and tools to grow in their professional practice. Designed for teachers, coaches, and educational leaders, this interactive workshop with Philip B. Warrick offers a paradigm-shifting approach to teacher development. Participants will learn research-based steps for reflection and improvement, principles for meaningful feedback and coaching, and protocols designed to help teachers, coaches, and administrators support and promote the development of teacher expertise.
Learning Outcomes:
Day One
- Understand why the professional growth of teachers’ expertise is vital to both student achievement and the well-being of the educational system.
- Discover how to use The New Art and Science of Teaching, a research-based instructional framework, as the basis for teacher reflection, development, and coaching.
Day Two
- Dive deep into the six-step process of deliberate practice for increasing teacher expertise.
- Learn strategies for reflecting on teaching, implementing a coaching cycle, structures and protocols for coaching and feedback, and how instructional rounds can revitalize a staff.
