From Purpose to Practices to Proof: Designing a Coherent System with the Marzano Mastery Approaches

Meaningful school improvement does not happen through disconnected initiatives. It happens when educators are clear about the purpose of the learning experience they want to create, identify the programs and practices that support that purpose, and gather evidence to show whether the system is working as intended.

In this one-hour webinar, you will explore how the Marzano Mastery Approaches (MMA) provides a practical decision-making process for building a coherent mastery-based system. You will leave knowing with certainty how to move from ideas to aligned action while keeping learning, agency, and evidence at the center of the work.

You’ll understand how to:

  • Clarify that purpose is the starting point for designing a mastery-based model of schooling
  • Explain how the 7 MMA domains work together to help schools build a coherent mastery-based approach—rather than implement isolated changes in grading, instruction, assessment, or student support
  • Use MMA as a decision-making process to identify and align programs and practices that bring a school’s purpose to life
  • Describe how design tools—such as performance scales or domain implementation trackers help organize that work
