    Mario Acosta, EdD, spent 20 years of his educational career as a teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, academic director, and principal leading schools with diverse profiles in the state of Texas. He was named the 2022 Principal of the Year in the State of Texas while he was the principal at Westwood High School, a U.S. News & World Report top-50 campus and member of the High Reliability Schools (HRS) Network.

    Jennifer Alvarado is a district-level curriculum, instruction, and professional development coordinator with more than 20 years of rich experience in both suburban and urban school districts.

    Ashley Avila is an English teacher at Proviso East High School in Maywood, Illinois. She is passionate about bridging the gaps in education and working with youth who are troubled or at risk.

  4. Tina H. Boogren

    Instruction Leadership Social-Emotional Learning Teacher Efficacy

    Tina H. Boogren, PhD, is a fierce advocate for educators, particularly for their well-being. She is the author of numerous books centered around her passion areas of quality instruction, coaching, mentoring, and wellness and is co-director of Solution Tree’s Wellness Solutions for Educators with Dr. Timothy D. Kanold. She also hosts the weekly podcast Self-Care for Educators with Dr. Tina H. Boogren. She lives in Denver, Colorado.

  5. Toby Boss

    Toby Boss, EdD, is the director of professional development at a regional service agency in Nebraska. He has experience as a classroom teacher, district administrator, and professional development consultant.

  6. Bev Clemens

    Bev Clemens, PhD, is an experienced educational leader who has worked in large suburban districts and in smaller urban districts with diverse student populations. In addition to her work with Marzano Resources, Dr. Clemens works with a small nonprofit organization focused on developing leadership skills in school leaders who are working to transform schools to meet the needs of all students.

  7. Michael Evans

    Professional Learning Communities

    Michael Evans, EdD, has 25 years of experience as a classroom teacher, school counselor, building level leader, and district level leader. Dr. Evans has led the transition to standards based grading from the district level, and continues to work to change the paradigm of learning.

  8. Douglas Finn III

    Competency-Based Education

    Douglas Finn III has been an active participant in the personalized competency-based education (PCBE) community since 2004. Through his years of teaching in Alaska and Maine, Doug has taught all grade levels. From that hands-on work within PCBE, he transitioned to supporting students, teachers, and administrators as a mentor, instructional and administrative coach, and associate who has presented all over the country and the world.

    Michelle Finn, MS, is a professional development associate at Marzano Resources who has been working since 2004 to design and implement competency-based, personalized learning systems, both as a practitioner in the classroom and as a trainer and coach for schools and districts across the country.

    Jane Doty Fischer, PhD, is an international and national trainer, a consultant, author, and coauthor of numerous resources. She has background and expertise in school improvement at the district, school, and classroom levels and works with teachers, teacher leaders, and leadership related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
