Maria Lantz, EdD, is the director of curriculum and instruction in the Ottumwa Community School District. Dr. Lantz works to challenge the status quo and promote equitable outcomes for kids through safe, supportive, collaborative learning environments in student-centered, rigorous classrooms.

Maria Lantz, EdD, is the director of curriculum and instruction in the Ottumwa Community School District. She has previously served as an associate principal in both elementary and secondary settings, as well as a middle school teacher and a high school teacher.
Dr. Lantz is passionate about her community and living out the Ottumwa School District's motto, "Be the Best." She works to challenge the status quo and promote equitable outcomes for kids through safe, supportive, collaborative learning environments with high academic expectations in student-centered, rigorous classrooms.
Dr. Lantz received her bachelor’s in secondary education and her master’s in educational leadership from Drake University. She completed her doctoral work at Drake University as well, and she has served as a keynote speaker, conference presenter, teacher, and leader in many organizations.
