Michelle Freeman

Michelle Freeman is an experienced educational leader currently serving as the principal of Lehigh Acres Middle School, a position she has held since July 2023. In this role, she provides organizational leadership, overseeing personnel, budgeting, safety, public relations, plant operations, food services, and transportation, ensuring that all aspects of the school align with high-performance expectations. Her leadership focuses on developing a learning organization that supports student success by enabling faculty and staff to collaborate toward closing achievement gaps, implementing rigorous instruction, and maintaining a school climate that fosters student engagement and growth. Under her leadership, the school is actively working toward achieving Level 2 and 3 Marzano High Reliability Schools certification.

Before her current role, Michelle served as the turnaround principal of Franklin Park Elementary. There, she led efforts to turn around the school, ensuring rapid improvement in student performance. She provided instructional leadership, designed standards-based, measurable outcomes for students, and worked with faculty to close learning performance gaps. During her tenure, Franklin Park became the first school in Lee County to implement a Community Center with a wraparound services program in collaboration with the University of Central Florida, Lee Health Medical, Lee County Schools, and United Way to provide social services to disadvantaged students. While there, the school achieved a "B," grade which they had not seen in 11 years.

Earlier in her career, Michelle held multiple assistant principal positions within the Lee County school district. In 2016, she was asked to join Fort Myers Middle Academy, another turnaround school, as an assistant principal. While there, she was able to help build a positive culture and start a young lady mentoring group that is still at Fort Myers to this day.
