Sonny Magaña, EdD, works with teams of teachers and leaders to support, enhance, and expand instructional strategies with technology. He is a teacher, an author, and pioneering educational technologist, researcher, and speaker. Dr. Magaña is also a consultant and speaker with more than 30 years of experience modernizing learning systems across North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Dr. Magaña founded and served as director of Washington state’s first cyberschool in 1996, a groundbreaking blended learning program that continues to meet the needs of students at risk statewide. He received the Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award and Governor’s Commendation for Educational Excellence.
Dr. Magaña holds a bachelor of science degree from Stockton University, a master of education degree from City University (where he was honored with the Presidential Award for meritorious scholarship), an educational administration endorsement, and a doctor of education in educational leadership from Seattle University.
