She has served as an educator (grades 5-12), a curriculum coordinator in English Language Arts and Social Studies, and a Director of College, Career, and Military Readiness. She brings her passions and experience, as an Associate, in areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment, standards-based learning, coaching, collaboration and professional learning.

    Michelle McCann, MS, is a professional development associate at Marzano Resources who has been working since 2004 to design and implement competency-based, personalized learning systems, both as a practitioner in the classroom and as a trainer and coach for schools and districts across the country.

  4. Patrick B. Hardy

    Diversity & Equity Instruction

    Dr. Patrick B. Hardy is the current principal at Hinsdale South High School in Illinois and has enjoyed a distinguished 26-year career in education. Notably, Dr. Hardy was principal at Proviso East High School in Maywood, Illinois, which became the first certified Marzano Academy in the nation. Dr. Hardy’s work has focused on school transformation and innovation, leadership development and coaching, equitable education, and personalized competency-based education.

  5. Marisa Hafley

    Assessment

    Marisa Hafley, coordinator of talent development at Region 9 Education Service Center in Wichita Falls, Texas, specializes in supporting campuses and districts with professional development opportunities, school improvement efforts, and the Marzano High Reliability Schools framework.

  6. Kim Frees

    Assessment

    Kim Frees has worked in education for over 25 years and currently serves as an elementary school principal. She has worked with Marzano Academies for the past three years with a focus on competency-based learning.

  7. David Franklin

    David Franklin, EdD, is an author, professor of education, and consultant and has worked with school leaders and teachers around the country in the areas of school vision, instruction, technology, and collaboration.

  8. Douglas Finn III

    Competency-Based Education

    Douglas Finn III has been an active participant in the personalized competency-based education (PCBE) community since 2004. Through his years of teaching in Alaska and Maine, Doug has taught all grade levels. From that hands-on work within PCBE, he transitioned to supporting students, teachers, and administrators as a mentor, instructional and administrative coach, and associate who has presented all over the country and the world.

    Michael Evans, EdD, brings over 28 years of experience as a classroom teacher, school counselor, building-level leader, and district-level leader.As a practitioner, he has led the transition to standards-based learning in multiple districts and continues to support schools and districts across the United States as an associate with Marzano Resources.
